The Arkansas Cherokee Nation 2nd Annual Powwow has been scheduled for September 5, 2009 at the Faulkner County Fairgrounds in Conway, AR. Any young lady between the ages of 14 and 18 is eligible to sign up for the 2009 Arkansas Cherokee Nation Princess. The requirements for eligibility are listed below. Essays must be received in the office no later than August 15, 2009.

Requirements:

• Must be between the ages of 14 and 18 by September 1, 2009.

• Write an essay that’s between 250 – 500 words that gives the following information. Name, age, school you attend, why you should be picked as 2009 Princess and some Cherokee history. Attach a current photo with the essay.

• All entrants must be present for September 5, 2009 Powwow, no exceptions.

• All entrants must be an Arkansas Cherokee Nation tribal member.

• All entrants must have a Cherokee style dress to be worn at the Powwow. Any entrant that shows up to the Powwow without a Cherokee dress will be immediately disqualified.

The winner will be picked on the day of the Powwow. Young ladies, please keep in mind that this is not a beauty contest; the Arkansas Cherokee Nation Princess will be picked based on her written essay.
